The Story of

Flourish Bakery

At the heart and soul
of Flourish Bakery is owner and baker Stephanie Palmer.

  • It all began with my family in my childhood kitchen. I have my Mum and dearest Nan to thank for my passion and patience with baking. Every Sunday, baking was my religion. I would pull up a chair, and reach up to the countertops to help my mum bake a special treat the whole family could enjoy. We made cupcakes, chocolate cakes, loaves of bread; fond memories I will always treasure. To this day, I still find a little time on my Sundays to bake.

My Nan was my biggest teacher; my baking instinct has grown from her gentle nurture in my earlier years. It is because of these special moments, together with my mum’s devotion to ritual Sunday baking, that I am where I am today.

‘I believe that it’s so important for families and friends to bake together, cook together, and share the ritual of preparing and eating delicious food, together. Everyone deserves moments like these in their childhood’

25 years later I am humbled to be here in the beautiful mountain town of Revelstoke, British Columbia, baking for the lovely community of Revy. It took a couple of years of courage, but I finally put myself out there and attended the Revelstoke LFI summer farmer’s markets and WOW what a response I received! Thank you to the Revelstoke community for feeding me with words of encouragement and motivation to keep on truckin’.  My values, which form the backbone of this bakery, include spreading love through the joy of baking and sharing good food. Improving inclusivity with food and dietary restrictions; and  confronting the stigma around gluten free food.

I have also discovered significant challenges with the accessibility to gluten free (and dairy free) food in Revelstoke and other towns in the interior. I wish to play a part in improving accessibility and education around gluten and dairy free food in BC

I believe accommodating food allergies and intolerances (something very common these days amongst the average person), should not compromise the taste of your food.

At the end of the day, everybody deserves to enjoy cake.

  • Where possible I bake with locally sourced and organic ingredients. Supporting local is such an important value to have, especially when you live in a community like Revelstoke. Shopping local and supporting not only the businesses, but the village behind those businesses; the families, their children, and the future infrastructure of sustainability and food security in our small mountain town.

I strongly believe that ‘we are what we eat’, and that eating the best quality ingredients will go along way for our health. Sharing food is a beautiful and heart-warming past time with friends and loved ones, and it is with great pleasure that I bake for others.
